Fitness Gear

Fitness gear is designed to help you in your activities. The right gear can make exercise a pleasure, or at least not something that you dread the pain of. Trying to exercise without the right gear is a daunting task at best, and a futile one at worst. This is because much of the benefit of exercise is derived from very specific movements.

Look at weight lifting. There are a few exercises that you can do with free weights, but many of the motions you go through are specifically designed to be done with specific fitness gear. Imagine trying to do even leg curls without a machine. You’d be balancing a barbell across your ankles, trying to move in unison! More of your energy would be devoted to trying to keep the barbell level than to actually lifting it.

This illustrates just how important fitness gear is to proper exercise. It’s not just weight lifting either. Imagine swimming without a pool, or playing basketball without a ball… it’s a ludicrous idea! So regardless of whether you’re planning to run laps or row a boat, make sure you have the equipment necessary to do it well, and comfortably.
